Are you searching for a stress-free and enjoyable summer vacation for your Superkiddo?
Here we help you plan the upcoming weeks!
For many children diagnosed with autism, summer vacation can be a stressful experience. Preparing for routine changes and all the activities you signed them up for involves creating a structured routine, offering sensory activities, and maintaining clear communication.
Implement these strategies to help your children reduce their anxiety and achieve predictability over the next weeks:
1. Don’t Change The Routine Too Much
Try to maintain similar morning and evening routines as on a school day to ease the transition back to school at the end of the holidays. For example: eating breakfast, showering, getting dressed, etc.
P.S.: We are available throughout the entire summer to support you with this transition.
2. Rely on Visual Supports
Use images or a calendar to outline daily activities and routines. Creating a visual schedule can provide structure, reduce anxiety, and promote independence in daily routines.
Take into account that each child is different, so if your Kiddo is young it is more advisable to use daily schedules, and if he is older he can benefit better from a weekly agenda and can know in advance what is planned each day.
Websites like Arasaac or Pictoagenda offer great free options for images.
3. Super Kids SUMMER CAMP

4. Plan Sensory Activities
Consider your child’s sensory sensitivities when planning activities. Choose activities like swimming, nature walks, or sensory bins to meet their needs and preferences.

5. Relax Time
Allow your children to relax at home on quieter days. Don’t feel the need to do too much every day. Additionally, take a few minutes for yourself as well.
