The 2023 Florida Sales Tax Holiday is still underway
It’s great news the Florida Freedom Summer Sales Tax Holiday began last May, 29th and ends on Monday, September 4, 2023, allowing Florida shoppers to skip paying sales tax. It applies to admission to music, sporting and cultural events; state park annual passes; certain water activities supplies; athletic equipments and more.
Wondering what does it cover?
Here is the list of some of the tax exempt items:
🧩Entertainment Articles:
Like tickets for concerts, sport events, museums and admission to state parks.
🧩Nautical and aquatic Equipments
- Snorkels, goggles and swimming masks with sales price of $25 or less;
- Safety flares with sales price of $50 or less;
- Life jackets and coolers with sales price of $75 or less;
- Water skis, wakeboards, kneeboards and inflatable/towable water tubes or floats with sales price of $150 or less;
- Paddle boards and surfboards with sales price of $300 or less;
- Canoes and kayaks with sales price of $500 or less.
🧩 Camping Supplies:
Tents with sales price of $200 or less and sleeping bags, hammocks, camping stoves and camping chairs with sales price of $50 or less.
🧩 Fishing Supplies:
- Fishing rods and reels with sales price of $75 or less;
- Tackle boxes or bags with sales price of $30 or less and bait or fishing tackle, if sold individually with sales price of $5 or less.
- General outdoor supplies, for example sunscreen and also bicycles.
🧩 Supplies for Residential Pools:
Sales tax break on pool parts, nets, filters, and lights with sales price of $100 or less. And pool and spa chemicals purchased by an individual with sales price of $150 or less.
🧩 Children’s Athletic Equipment:
Consumer products with sales price of $100 or less that are designed or intended by the manufacturer for a child 12 years of age or younger for use in an athletic activity.
🧩 Toys for Children:
All consumer products with a sales price of $75 or less that are designed or intended by the manufacturer for a child 12 years of age or younger for use by the child when the child plays.

Is it valid for online purchases?
Of course it is!
All items purchased online are exempt when the order is accepted by the company during the sales tax holiday for immediate shipment, even if delivery is made after the tax holiday.
This Tax Exemption is effective all the way until Monday, September 4th, along the entire State. Meaning you have few more weeks to do the shopping for everyone at home and family outings.
And in case you are wondering if it’d happen again, yes! There are more tax-free days to come. It’s all part of the largest tax relief plan in Florida’s history, signed by Governor DeSantis.
